Page Rank:

Page rank is nothing but the ranking given to your site or webpage by different search engines based on the parameters determined by the particular search engine. Suppose if a site A has been linked with your site it means there is something good about the site A as you have linked with it, and therefore Google will count your link to site A as a vote for Site A. And thus site A will get higher page rank. The page rank scale goes form 1 to 10 where 1 is least and 10 is highest.
Page rank plays very important role when it comes about ranking in Google search. The higher your page rank is, the higher your ranking will be in Google search.
You can check Page rank of your site by downloading Google’s toolbar from http://toolbar.google.com
How to get a higher page rank?
Page rank depends on the different criteria like the content of your website or WebPages, keywords used in content writing, keywords used in tags and metatags , the inbound and outbound links etc.
1. Content of the website  :
Content of the website or of the web pages is of immense important.
2. Inbound and Outbound links  :
Outbound links are the links given by your site to other sites and Outbound links are the links given by others on their site or WebPages for your site or web pages.
While we work on getting more inbound or outbound links it is called as Link Building.
Link building has a simple idea that you put a link of someone else’s website to yours and in return you can ask for a free one way reciprocal   link from that site. Research also shows that most people visit web sites as a result of a link from another web site. But you might have been thinking that if you have managed to get a visitor, the other sites which are linked to your site would get the visit of your user without any effort, but what is important to remind here that you will also get the visitors from that site in the same manner. And of course if your visitor does not get what it want on your its pretty good to let your visitor serf other sites linked on your page besides loosing your customer, and this also when the linked sites are referring back their visitors to your site.  Its all about surviving in the peer competition with mutual co-operation.
There is an even more important reason for a Link Exchange program besides getting more traffic and it is that search engines look at how many incoming and outgoing links there are on your site in assessing how popular it is. The more links the better your ranking. They are also looking for relevance. Are the sites you are linked to relevant to the primary keywords on your site.
But always keep in minds that do not run behind link building blindly. I am saying this is because Google not only looks for the quantity of the links but also for the quality of the links. I will try to explain this in details in Google Ranking Algorithm.
3) Google Ranking Algorithm :
Google ranking algorithm is the secret of Google’s success and immense popularity. Google has become popular among webmasters not only because of its formula but also of its policy of publishing information on its site about its ranking system so that the webmasters can do things for improving their ranking in Google.
Here I am trying to explain this algorithm in simple terms.>
PR (A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + ... + PR(tn)/C(tn)) >
Here PR (A) is the page rank boost your page will get after completing a link with someone else sites which in the above formula is denoted by (t1).
PR (t1) is the page rank of the page which links to you and C(t1) is the total amount of links that (t1) has.
d is the dumping factor . This is the amount of your PR which can actually pass on when you vote or link to another site. Usually the dumping is about .85 of the PR of the linking page.
For example if you are linked with sites ABC and PQR which have page rank 4 and 5 and 10 and 20 back links respectively, then you could calculate the PR(A) as
PR(A) =  (1-.85) + .85 ((4/10) + (5/20))
PR(A) =  .15 +  .85 (.4+.25)
PR(A) = .15 +  .85(.65)
PR(A) = .7025
Always keep this in mind that it is more important that with which sites you are doing link building beside how many sites? It’s always better to link with a site of less page rank with fewer back links than a site of higher page rank with hundreds of back links to boost your page rank.
I hope that this article will certainly help you in giving a boost to your page rank as well as to your business.
