| The PDF file format has changed several times. The eight modified versions are given below. |
(1993) - PDF 1.0 / Acrobat 1.0
(1994) - PDF 1.1 / Acrobat 2.0
(1996) - PDF 1.2 / Acrobat 3.0
(1999) - PDF 1.3 / Acrobat 4.0
(2001) - PDF 1.4 / Acrobat 5.0
(2003) - PDF 1.5 / Acrobat 6.0
(2005) - PDF 1.6 / Acrobat 7.0

| Structure of PDF |
| PDF could be designed using three technologies. |
1 Post script page description language (to generate layouts and graphics)
2 A font embedding/replacement system (to make font travel with the document)
3 A stored system (to format all elements into file) |
| PDF file mainly consist of boolean values, numbers, strings, names, arrays, dictionaries, streams and the null object. |
| Text in PDF is submitted by text elements in page content stream where as the font object in PDF is a description of digital typeface. |
| PDF and search engine |
| Early days when PDF was recently introduced search engine were unable to read this file. Now a days not each and every one but Google and most of the can read it. |
